Jack Derrig, the Irish baker, passed away last evening at 8:30. He was surrounded by family and friends. He went very peacefully after a long battle with heart failure and renal failure. As all of you know, Jack fought many, many battles over the years and will always be remembered as someone who overcame many illnesses in his later years. Please remember his wonderful smile and love for everyone. Please keep him and his family in your prayers.
Veronica Shanteau, Penny Collins, cousin wrote about her Aunt Lavern Fagan RIP
Monday night God took another angel home. Part of who I am today was molded by my aunt Laverne. As far back as my early memory she's always been there for us, not only would she take care of me, which was quite a task I was always a little terror, but all 5 of us, and not only for the day but sometimes for a week or maybe two weeks. I remember being at her house as a small child. she had a spinning wheel in her living room that she would let us play with, That was a big deal! St Patrick's Day at her house was always a celebration from the green shirt she made for us to the jig dance that she taught us to do (you know when you put the Mcgoverns and the Fagans together on St Patrick's Day it was a holiday party). Most of my memories from my childhood have her in them she had a place they called the Ponderosa. We had so many camp outs and cookouts and so much fun there. My only regrets are as I got older and started to have a family, my life got so busy that I forgot to communicate with this person who was so important to me but I thank God that over the last few years I actually got to see her again and talk to her on the phone quite often to let her know how much I loved her. So here's till I see you on the other side, We love you and will miss you aunt Laverne
Please pray for Doug Kummer. who has been admitted to Toledo Hospital.
Brother & Sister Hibernians,
Please pray for Father Noel O’Connor. Some of you may remember Fr. Noel O’Connor from County Tipperary. He gave the Homily at the An Gorta Mor Mass at the Michigan
monument a few years ago. He has been diagnosed with brain cancer, and is scheduled to have surgery on May 17th. The Pallottine Family is asking for prayers, and because Fr. Noel has a special devotion to Our Lady, Queen of Apostles, they are asking that you show your support by participating in a Novena for him. The 1st day is to start this coming Friday, the 10th, completing 9 days later on the 18th. The info is posted on the Pallottine website: www.irishpallottines.org Please pass this info along to anyone who would like to join the Novena. The intention of this Novena will be for Fr. Noel and everyone suffering any type of pain, or loss.
