Celebration of Life Gathering 1:00pm Holy Rosary & St. John’s Catholic Church
St. John’s Community Center Champion Hall 640 South Ohio Avenue Columbus, Ohio 43205
In honor of Jan, many of her friends and family are planning to wear her favorite colors and style of dress, which consists of PINK or BLUE polo shirts, +/- a PLAID long sleeve flannel shirt, and blue jeans. Those of us who knew Jan understand that she could be easily recognized by her warm smile, gentle laugh and friendly, comfortable ways. If these traits weren’t enough to pick her out from a crowd, we could also key-in on her preferred “uniform.” We invite each of you to consider following Jan’s example as well for both events.
Janet Murray O’Mahoney, born May 17, 1943 and a lifelong resident of Columbus. Jan graduated from the college of St Mary of the Springs with a degree in education. She was a teacher in the Groveport-Madison School District before starting a family that became the center of her life. Later, she operated her own State Farm insurance agency. Jan is survived by her husband, Thomas, her children, Kevin, Brian , and Maura, her six grandchildren who knew her as “Grannie”, and three sisters, Sharon, Mary Patricia (Patsy) and Sheila. After a long battle with Alzheimer’s, Jan passed away peacefully on November 17. In lieu of flowers, her family requests that donations be made to the St. Dominic BREAD Team Project to support families facing issues involving eldercare/dementia. St. Dominic church offices are located at 834 S. Ohio Ave, Columbus, Ohio 43205 or donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association at www.alz.com.
Penny and I ask for prayers for a dear friend, who is facing a difficult health issue.
Thomas O'Mahoney writes: Its my sad duty to inform all my friends that my wife, Jan, passed away yesterday, with dignity and in peace, after a courageous battle against the ravages of Alzheimer's disease. For the past 52 years she was my best friend and companion. Her insight and wisdom made me a better person. She gave me three wonderful children that any man would be proud. Our family is particularly thankful for all of the dedicated loving care provided by Jan's caregivers at Esther's Place. They are truly remarkable women and angels here on earth. I will keep everyone advised of our plans for our celebration of Jan's life as they become finalized. Rest in peace.

Please pray for Tom Mullane, son of William A Mullane and Margaret Mulroy Mullane who is in Henry Ford Hospital having a hard time breathing. This Irish-American is a good father, loyal discipline of Christ, retired parochial school Math teacher, and grandpa. He breathes Oxygen in but cannot expel enough Hydrogen Monoxide. Pray for his two daughters and son who must make tough decisions about their comatose father.
I would like to ask for prayers for my wife Gail Sweeney; she was diagnosed with inoperable Pancreatic Cancer in July of 2017. She has an MRI scheduled for this Monday, November 5th to evaluate this cancerous tumor. We are asking for your prayers that this tumor has not progressed or metastasized. Her last MRI in July did show no significant growth of this tumor.
God has been so good to us.
