Charles Edward Sullivan, 85, passed away on February 7, 2014, in Toledo, OH. Charles was born on January 26, 1929, to Joseph and Catherine (O'Neil) Sullivan in Amboy Township, Ohio. Charles was a graduate of Metamora High School in 1947. He worked for Standard Oil for 10 years and also for the City of Toledo, where he retired after working for 23 years in Community Development. Charles was a member of the Ancient Order of the Hibernians and Knights of Columbus. He was an active volunteer for American Heart Association, Mended Hearts Association and with Boy Scouts of America. He was also an active member of the West Toledo Senior Center.
Charles is survived by his wife of 59 years, Barbara (Fallon) Sullivan; sons, Michael and Kevin (Teresa) Sullivan of Herndon, VA; daughter, Maureen (Jim) Gilmore; grandchildren, Sally Badhorn, Eric (Megan) Mathias, Katherine (Michael) Emans, Patrick Gilmore, and Brendan, Sean and Dylan Sullivan; great-grandchildren, Beatrix Badhorn, Austin Emans, and Cadence and Reid Mathias.
Visitation will be held on Monday, February 10, 2014, from 2 p.m. - 8 p.m. with Rosary at 4 p.m. at Blanchard-Strabler Funeral Home, 1163 W. Sylvania Ave. Funeral Services will be Tuesday, February 11, 2014, at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, 4555 N. Haven Ave. at 10 a.m. Charles will lie in state for one hour prior to services. Interment immediately to follow at Ottawa Hills Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked donations be made to St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church or the donor's choice.
