Father Marty Donnelly died this afternoon. Father Marty was a proud Hibernian. He was very generous in allowing the Hibernians to use the Facilities at Blessed Sacrament at no charge. On a personal note Father Marty said the Mass for Penny and my 40th wedding anniversary. I was walking my dog Gretel one evening. Father Marty was driving by and stopped to say hello. I told him that Gretel, who was just 2-1/2 years old, would not live very much longer since her Kidneys were failing. He parked his car and asked me if he could give me and my dog a blessing. He thanked Gretel for all the joy she had brought to me and my family and friends, That is just one of many acts of kindness by that wonderful priest. Father Marty has suffered from Alzheimer the last few years. When I would see him, he would struggle to remember my name, but he would say; “You’re the Irishman.” Father Marty has joined his brother, Bishop Robert Donnelly, cousins Father Tom Quinn and Betty Mears in heaven. Maybe they will form a Hibernian division there. Rest in peace and thank you for all you have done for so many people. God speed! More information will follow.
Brian Sweeney sent the following about his wife, Gail. The trip to Cleveland Clinic went well; their second opinion agreed with our doctor’s opinion, here at the Barrett Center in Cincinnati. Of course I am still asking for prayers for my wife Gail Sweeney, she will be starting back up chemo therapy next Tuesday, after being off chemo for one year – the first chemo type nearly killed her. We pray that her system can withstand this new chemo therapy; she’s trying to stay in the fight against pancreatic cancer.
